The renowned Pattaya Beach Resort is located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, about 150 kilometres southeast of Bangkok city. It is easily accessed by car, taxi, bus, and by air via two main routs;
By the Bangkok-Chonburi-Pattaya Motorway (Highway no 7) which linked with Bangkok outer ring road (highway No 9) at Srinakarin and Rama IV junctions.
By Bangna-Trat (Highway No 34). From Bangna, Pang Pli across the Bang Prakong River to chunburi there is Chonburi’s bypass that meets Sukhumvit Road (highway No 3), passing Bangsaen and Bang Phra to Pattaya.
For visitors who prefer to travel by bus, Pattaya is served by frequent bus services from Bangkok’s northern bus terminal (Morchit) and the eastern bus terminal (Ekhamai).
For those who wish to travel by train, a daily service is operated between Pattaya and Bangkok’s main station, Hualumphong.
Pattaya beach resort is only an hour and a half or 120 kilometres by road from Suvarnaphumi international Airport. It’s also served through U-Tapao Airport which is a bout 45 minutes drive from the city.
Formerly a small fishing village, Pattaya has become a popular seaside resort since 1961 when the American service men visited it during Vietnam War and gradually transformed into a vibrant seaside city which attracts worldwide tourists.
The city of Pattaya, like Bangkok city, is a self administrative municipality which covers the area of around 22.2 square kilometers and has registered population of over 104,000. Pattaya resort area has a typical tropical climate of a warm & dry, and a warm, wet & humid seasons when the warm & dry season (when hotels have high occupancy rates) is normally between November and April.
The main sweep, almond shape of Pattaya bay is divided into two principal beachfronts. Pattaya beach is parallel to city center and is the main destination for bathers and loungers with the section from central road (Pattaya Klang) south to the habour forming part of the city’s restaurants, shops, bars and its famous night attractions.
Jomtien Beach in the southern part of the bay area is divided from Pattaya beach by the prominent headland hill namely Phratumnak Hill, just south of the city. Jomtien beach resort consists of high rise condominiums, beach front hotels, bungalow complex, shops, bars and restaurants. It used to be a quiet end of Pattaya resort but is increasingly crowded at weekends
